While the primary audience for this book is caregivers who are creators, I found immense value in it as a writer. I am presently writing a parable but have been frustrated because the words aren’t flowing or coming as easily as I expected they would.
Donn’s book gives me “permission” to focus on persistence instead of perfection. His strategy for leveraging micro-moments is brilliant and so helpful!
Two of my favorite quotes in his book that resonates so much are these: “The victory is in getting words down at all. You can revise what exists. You cannot edit what never got written.” And “Micro-moments remind me that creating isn’t about having unlimited hours. It’s about showing up fully in the minutes you do have.”
He talks about embracing small, manageable goals and finding emotional anchors, which I can totally relate to. And when writing isn’t flowing like I want it to, I will remember something else that he shared:
“Surround yourself with reminders of why you write at all.” Then I will keep writing – even if it’s only a paragraph or a sentence.
You helped me reframe how I look at how I can use the time that I have for writing more productively – thank you, Donn!
